Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most acclaimed American actors of our times. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and was raised by a single mom who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when working with her father during the summer, eventually studying acting, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. When she graduated at Brown University she made making her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. Within two years of the time, her debut film hit the market, and following year, her debut on television. Since then, she has appeared involved in numerous films, television shows and stage performances. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career including four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of the array of awards acting has been her passion first and foremost. She continues to perform both in stage and screen.
