Richard B. Cheney, an accomplished businessman and public servant is vice president. Cheney is a well-known figure on Washington's political scene. George W. Dick Cheney is a former chief of the staff of a President, he served as a member of Congress and was Secretary of Defense. Cheney is a man with integrity who is respected by Republicans and Democrats. Cheney has stated that the role he plays as part of the administration of a frank but discreet adviser to Bush. In accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod Cheney said that he is looking ahead to serving under a president who will work to get things done by reaching across the partisan aisle as well as working with opposition politicians on a good basis and with a shared goals. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 within Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, he made the move together with family members into Casper within the Western region of Wyoming in Wyoming, where his father was the director of the district for soil conservation in Casper of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
