Richard B. Cheney a distinguished public servant and businessman is vice president of the United States. Cheney known as a popular figure on the scene of Washington politics has worked under four presidents in the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush selected Cheney as his vice president running mate in July 2000, citing Cheney's expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for a president. He also served as a congressman Congress and was the secretary of defense. Republicans as well as Democrats alike admire Cheney due to his sincerity. Cheney believes that his job within the Bush Administration will be to act as a candid but discrete advisor. Cheney stated that, after he was accepted as the Republican nomination for vice president, he looked forward to working alongside a President who works across political lines to achieve goals and will work with his opponents in good faith. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30, 1941) was the son Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been married with Richard Herbert Cheney for over 30 years. When he was 13 years old, Richard moved his family from Nebraska to Casper which was where his dad worked as Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local district for soil conservation.
